"Love the look and feel of the boots. They are very comfortable and broken in right out of the box. However, the low rating is due to the fact that the zipper on the heel of one of the boots keeps busting open just from normal walking. The zipper does not fall down but rather separates in the middle leaving the clasp at the top. This makes it extremely difficult to zip back down to get the zippers back in place."

"Arrived with a broken zipper on one boot. Had to fill out warranty form and ship back. Still waiting for confirmation it was received so the new pair can be shipped out. This was a bday gift for my husband and very disappointing that he won’t have these for the holidays now. He has other boots from bed Stu that he really likes."

I purchased these boots in

"I purchased these boots in Black Lux. They look awesome on the website, black but worn and faded. The boots I received were extremely faded to the point they were brown. They were not even a little black. Also, the soles at the tip of both shoes were cut unevenly and looked almost broken. I have a pair of Protege's I bought in 2012 and the leather on those is far superior. The boots I received recently felt cheap and looked tacky. On top of all of this, Bed Stu is charging me $5 to return them."

Nice boots! Fit is

"Nice boots! Fit is correct for the size. Stiff sole, so they are a little clunky when walking but not uncomfortable. ""Unique"" distress to the leather does not exactly match example photos but looks good. Would give 5 stars but left boot zipper has less friction than right boot and can unzip itself when walking if the boot is laced tightly. Somewhat annoying that this unzips but loosening the upper laces a little seems to have fixed this."

"parts of the rubber sole broke off in the first day, only on carpet inside. 1 year in all stitching has come off, cracks in the leather (despite proper conditioning, and a massive tear in the leather where the tongue joins. AVOID THIS BRAND"

Re-New Kicks!

"Got my first pair in 2014. Wore them into their “afterlife”, sadly. Fortunately, they have a Protégé. More of the originality in revised design elements and stature. (Taller shaft). Had a small issue with the zippers on the new, but Bed Stu is immediately on top of speedy response and replacement pair. Really well-made shoe. Plus, the compliments don’t stop. The Black Lux is character in continual evolution. You deserve some!"

Nice boots, but problems with restoration program

"A warning: Though the boots will work well, I do not recommend using the company's restoration program. So far, after a couple of months, no boots returned. There are delays, of course, but that isn't a customer's problem. I have another pair that needs work, but I don't want to lose wearing them for a few months, so will look elsewhere."
