Beautiful but Hard to break in

As usual from BedStü, a beautifully crafted shoe. Love the chunky Oxford look, but really stiff. I had to change shoes halfway through my day. I’m going to try the ice water in the freeze trick to stretch them.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Dagny. We’re so glad you love the craftsmanship and design, and we’re sorry the stiffness caused some discomfort. Because our footwear is made with genuine leather, it’s normal for them to feel firm at first. Over time, the leather will stretch and mold to your feet, especially around the flex points, creating a custom fit.
We don’t recommend the ice water trick, as it can damage the leather. Instead, here are a few safe ways to break them in:
- Wear them for short periods at first, gradually increasing over time
- If the fit allows, try wearing two pairs of socks to help stretch them more quickly
- Visit a local cobbler for professional stretching in specific spots
A well-fitting leather shoe should feel like a firm handshake on the top of your foot: while there may be some initial discomfort, they should not feel painfully tight. With a little time and care, we hope your Dagnys become the comfortable go-to pair you envisioned.

Heel slips

I have the same problem! My toes are near the end of the toe box, and my heel slips out. I tried an insert, I tried thicker socks and nothing worked. I love these shoes, but I have to send them back. My other Bed Stu shoes don't do this.
