What can I say? Socrates is best of all worlds. I'm really a backpack kind of guy, but occasionally appreciate a messenger bag, and occasionally appreciate being able to hand carry my bag. It's difficult - extremely difficult - to find a hybrid bag to fit all purposes. Socrates fits. Socrates can be dressed up or dressed down. I demand a lot from my Every Day Carry, and Socrates so far is doing okay. My EDC also has to function as a mini go bag, and on top of my laptop, iPad, phone and wallet, I keep a stash of go-to items to hold me over in emergencies (I'm really OCD!). Aside from the main pocket, the slip pocket and the hideaway pocket on the rear portion of the bag (which would be up against your back of you wore this bag as backpack), there is no organization, and I like that. I like to choose my own organization method. I will probably go to the Grid storage system, which seems to work best with this bag. I can also see traveling with this bag with an Eagle Creek cube organizer. I got Socrates in black, and it can be dressy. The leather is great and seems it will take a lot of abuse. The straps can be uncomfortable, but I am hoping my break-in period will help soften them. What else can I say? I sold two Tumi bags to buy this; that's a compliment to Socrates.
