Earth Day 2022-How We Honor Mother Nature

Happy Earth Day! The theme for Earth Day 2022 is Invest in Our Planet.

The official Earth Day website says, “Now is the time for the unstoppable courage to preserve and protect our health, our families, our livelihoods…together, we must Invest In Our Planet”.Here at BED|STÜ, we like to treat every day like it’s Earth Day. Our philosophy is to create sustainable products that are made to last, using only the most natural ingredients.

Each leather product is eco-consciously hand-crafted using recycled, renewable, organic, and reused materials, all while reducing waste. Our philosophy is simple: to create sustainable products that are made to last, using only the most natural ingredients. This year for Earth Day, our BED|STÜ team members, around the country, went out for a neighborhood cleanup day! Not only were we doing something good for Mother Nature, but we also got to explore what this gorgeous Earth has to offer us!

Franklin, TN
Franklin, TN

If you’ve ever been to Franklin, TN, you know it’s like a scene out of a movie! Just a few miles from what is known as The Great American Main Street, a 16-block stretch of historic buildings dating from before the Civil War to the early 1900s, our TN BED|STÜ team hit the banks of the Harpeth River. It was a little chilly that day, so they bundled up and set out to clean up the park and riverbank! Madeline Z., Social Media Specialist: “It was a great break in our day to get outside and make an impact! Even though it feels like a small impact, it’s often the small ones that have the biggest impact!”.

Lake Dallas, TX
Lake Dallas, TX

Everything’s bigger in Texas! Next up is Lake Dallas, TX, where BED|STÜ Headquarters is located! With all the storms rolling through this area lately, our Lake Dallas team noticed a ditch near the office had piled up some debris. Amanda Giles, Customer Support Specialist: “With BED|STÜ products being eco-friendly, it really made me feel like I was a part of the brand's mission. It was nice for us all to be able to get out of the office and come together to clean up, even a small part of this beautiful planet we call home.”

Sycamore Cove Beach, CA
Sycamore Cove Beach, CA

Our California office enjoys long walks on the beach and cleaning up some litter on the way! They went down to Sycamore Cove Beach in Ventura County, California, just a few miles from the CA office to do a fun beach cleanup! Sandi D., Product Specialist: “The Sycamore Cove Beach in Malibu brings fond memories from my childhood, as we camped and picnicked on this beach with my family when I was young. I felt fortunate to spend the day with some of my BED|STÜ family. We found a lot of bottle caps (saving some bare feet injuries), cans, and wrappers. Blessed to be a part of this team, and so thankful for the beautiful backdrop and perfect weather on our cleanup day!”.

With warmer days ahead, it’s a great time to get out to your local community and clean up your neighborhood! We can’t wait for our next BED|STÜ cleanup day! Again, sometimes it just takes one ripple to create a huge wave- so tag us in any pictures from your local cleanup! #BedStuGivesBack

Team BED|STÜ gets eco-crafty with organic cotton totes, boiling water, and an unlikely source of color - food scraps

I have always been a big fan of cooking, even before I was in full WFH mode. I love the process and the science behind mixing ingredients, the way things baking in my oven fill my home with yummy smells… and of course, eating it! I’m no Top Chef™, but I think it’s pretty dang good… HOWEVER at the end of a night, my kitchen is a disaster between the dishes and all of the food waste (think orange peels to avocado pits and everything in between). While I’m all about composting, I wondered if I could use this edible pallet for some fun crafting…
