BED|STÜ Boots: Responsible Craftsmanship & Quality Materials

The Anatomy of a Boot: What We're Made Of

Here at BED|STÜ, we take pride in creating quality leather goods in the most environmentally responsible way. Our products are made with organic ingredients from the earth: dyes derived from plants, tree bark and leaves, glues that are water-based, and natural latex extracted from the sap of rubber trees.

Honoring the craft of shoemaking, we buck the trend of mass production by taking our time to create quality leather products that are built to last. Ethically handcrafted and hand-finished, we’ll never compromise on quality.

Our boots have garnered a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship, eco-friendliness, and durability. The secret behind their success lies in the meticulous selection of high-quality materials and construction techniques. Join us as we dive into the "Anatomy of a Boot" and uncover some of the remarkable materials that define the essence of BED|STÜ.

Materials & Features

Vegetable-Tanned Leather

Our leathers are prepared through a process called vegetable tanning, which takes over two weeks, but is free of harmful substances like chrome and formaldehyde. This eco-conscious tanning procedure relies on natural tannins extracted from tree bark, leaves, and other plant-based sources to purify the leather and prepare it for long-term use and durability. The outcome is a rich, distinctive patina that develops over time, ensuring your boots age uniquely. Most companies in our industry take only a few hours to tan their leathers using chromium and other harmful chemicals. We take immense pride in providing leathers that are safer for you, our workers, and our planet.

Biodegradable Toe Box

While traditional plastic toe boxes contribute to waste and environmental harm, we have opted for a more sustainable alternative: biodegradable toe boxes. These eco-friendly components decompose over time, reducing their impact on the environment and helping preserve our planet for future generations.

Vibram® Rubber Outsole Plate

Vibram® rubber outsole plates are celebrated for their exceptional traction, durability, and wear resistance. This high-performance material guarantees stability on your feet on various forms of terrain and in varying weather conditions. The use of Vibram® outsole is a testament to BED|STÜ's unwavering commitment to quality and performance.

Cork Midsoles

Our cork midsoles are a blend of natural cork and recycled leather shavings, offering numerous benefits. Not only does cork provide excellent insulation, keeping your feet warm in winter and cool in summer, but it also delivers superior shock absorption and cushioning for all-day comfort. Over time, this unique blend molds to the shape of the wearer's foot, creating a custom fit and lasting comfort. The use of these cork midsoles highlights BED|STÜ's dedication to sustainability and eco-conscious design.

By understanding the materials and craftsmanship behind BED|STÜ boots, you can truly appreciate their value and durability. These boots are built to last and thoughtfully designed with the environment in mind.

Wear them with pride, knowing you've made a responsible (and stylish) choice!
